WOMEN ART EXHIBITION IN NAMIBIA

The National Art Gallery of Namibia is pleased to host one of its prestigious group exhibitions once again. This successful exhibition was officially opened on the 10th August 2010 and will be running until the 17th of September 2010.

This special exhibition which showcased some of our top leading women artists in Namibia. It unveiled the potential for the young up-coming artists to interact with the diverse range of different, professional artists.

The works which were exhibited seeked to engage visitors in women's experience as they strive to succeed in the male dominated world. The paintings highlight different subjects in our daily lives.

We are living in a world where images/artworks challenge us to reconsider preconceived ideas. It influences and changes our perceptions of life.

One of the titles of an artwork reads: "I AM A WOMAN" by Urte Remmert. This title perpetuates the image of women's strength and does encourage the female viewer to re-image herself as able to overcome her suffering and her burdens. Some women artists disclose a personal commitment to explore the hidden talent.

It is true that art can be used as a tool to communicate silent voices. Art can be used to illustrate our daily life. Art also makes our lives richer. Imagine, just for a minute, a world without art! You may think "so what?" Art gives us a way to be creative and express ourselves. Art is such a large part of our everyday lives.
