Anita Steyn: The Lady Mountain at Rosh Pinah, 2015 – Charcoal and Pastel on paper
Anita Steyn is an established visual artist who lives in Karibib, Namibia. She works in charcoals, coloured pencils, watercolours and mixed media. These mediums provide her with a rich selection of forms, textures and detailed works. Her style can be described as expressionistic with its lively sweeping lines, dramatic concepts, vigorous colours, and strong explosive compositions. In this work, Steyn captured the untouched natural beauty of the Rosh Pinah mountains; she describes the mountains similar to the human figure on top. Inspired by nature – the wind blowing on top of the mountains – she uses charcoals to express movements in nature and to enhance depictions.
